The Regulations (Nos. 81 to 96) specify the proceedings which are taken in a Colony when it is deemed necessary to suspend an officer with a view to his removal from the service; but you must also understand that you will hold the appointment subject to the pleasure of the Crown, and that the pleasure of the Crown that you should no longer hold it may be signified through the Secretary of State, in which case no special formalities

are required.
